WHAT IS ESPRI?

“Every New Yorker deserves a shot at the American Dream – and this smart investment does just that, this is a complex problem, but through strong partnerships we will expand economic opportunity”
-Governor Cumo

The City of Syracuse was selected as one of 16 communities statewide to participate in the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI). The project has two phases; Phase One of the ESPRI will support administration and planning for the initiative with a Taskforce to make recommendations. Phase Two will then fund the implementation of targeted strategies that aim to increase community wealth. ESPRI will be administered by the State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) which will approve the plan sent in by each community.
